Day 365 ~ THE BLOG IS COMPLETE!!

I figured I would take a selfie and make it all fancy with BIGHUGELABS.com, since this would be my last pic to finish the blog...Thanks for all of you who have supported me on this quest to upload a pic a day.

So, the blog is done.....OR IS IT?

I shall be posting pics from time to time when I run across something really interesting to me.  And, very soon, be on the look out for a short video which features ALL THE PICS I took for the blog.

Day 364 - Eating for Free on Veteran's Day

So Applebee's gives a free entre to Veterans on Veteran's day so Karen and I went there for lunch...I put on my Desert Storm  garb and headed out!

it was a good burger.

They also gave a five dollar coupon for our next visit. Above the coupon is my VA  card.

Day 363 ~ It's begging to look a lot like Christmas!

So I went to Shoprite today and I found these holiday fruit cakes on display. It brought back memories of my old job with Hostess cake. We used to start selling these around November also. All the salesman would complain about it because the cases were heavy and it was hard getting managers to approve the display. Yet, for all it's trouble, they did sell well and we had very few returns.

Day 362 ~ A Day for Grooming our Dog!

Margaret was in need of a bath in a desperate way so, after work, I met Karen at Rub-a-Dub Dog which is where you can do a self-service dog wash. They have a huge sink and spray and everything you need to wash your dog.

This is Margaret all nice and clean....Karen is drying her off after her much needed bath.

This is one of the many funny dog-friendly signs they have around the store.  There is lots to smile about in that store. Right now, Karen and I are about to give Margaret a haircut. Karen does most of the work of cutting and styling. I just make sure Margaret doesn't jump off the table.

Day 361 ~ Voting is done but the signs are still here!!!

This sign tells all the residents where to go to vote. That is just fine and dandy but I am wondering how long the signs are going to stay there. It's like people who leave Christmas lights up all year long. 

Here are all the signs still littering my neighborhood. I hope they pick them up soon!

Day 360 ~ A Cheap Breakfast at the Airport!

The airport is known for expensive food yet I was able to get a cup of coffee and a chocolate muffin for only $3 and change....not bad, eh? It was all chocolate so it felt like I was having cake for breakfast.

Yes, I know I missed yesterday...I only have five more days till I complete 365 days of pictures!

Day 359 ~ Wishing a Friend Well!

My friend Greg from work is moving on to an another position. He'll be moving out of state and becoming a police officer.  He invited everyone to a bar after work today to say goodbye but I couldn't make it so I sent a picture of myself raising a glass in his honor.

Day 356 ~ Dogs Gone By!

This is the desk in our living room and on it we have two pics of our dogs who died some time ago. I was just thinking about them when I was looking at some old videos (which is only a minute long and you can see below.) Baily and Zorro were good dogs! 

Bailey was our first dog. Except for the fact that she shed a lot, she was a very good dog.

Zorro was actually my daughter's dog but we took care of him while she was away at college. But, by all means, Zorro was Sara'a dog because whenever she came home, he would light up! He was the only dog I know who had a swagger when he walked!

Here's a short video I made, mostly of Zorro but Bailey is in the last few seconds of the video. Libby is also in it.

Day 355 ~ Meeting an Old Friend!

I haven't seen Daniel Doherty in 35 years...and then when I am at the airport, he asks me, Are you Jim Vivanco? I say yes and we started talking about old times at Free Gospel church back when we were both teenagers. We couldn't talk long because I was at work and he was on his way to catch a plane.  Luckily, though, I was just about to take my lunch break so I was able to talk with him some more at the gate. We talked about church life and how each of us has grown and what has helped us along the way.  It was a very edifying conversation and it was great to see him again!

Day 354 ~ No Candy for Halloween!!!!! WHAT!!!!

I feel like The Grinch who Stole Halloween because I had to hang this sign by our front door. I go to bed really early because I wake up at 1am to go to work so, basically, I go to bed before most toddlers. Anyway, so that the door bell doesn't ring all day/night long, I posted this sign.

Here's the sign from a distance. Kids/parents should be able to read it from the sidewalk.

Day 353 ~ A Pikmin Invasion

I am not a gamer but my kids are. My son Matthew plays a game called Pikmin and he thought he'd create a scene for everyone's entertainment.

Day 352 ~ Jimmy Bars!

Look! They named a snack bar after me! I was buying a cup of coffee at work today and I noticed this was for sale. Now, I didn't buy it for two reasons: First, I don't like Peanut Butter and Second, since it is sold at the Airport, I know it is overpriced. They did have two other flavors:  Apple and Chocolate chip. Maybe, someday, I will try those.

Day 351 ~ At a Dog Event

A couple of weeks back, Karen and I took Margaret and Libby to a dog event at a church in our neighborhood. Here is Karen and Margaret in a game SIMON SAYS....They lost.

At the event, they had  portrait booth where you could get photos of your dog. We tried to get Libby in there as well but she just wouldn't sit still so here is Margaret in a Winter Scene.

Day 350 ~ Halloween is just around the Corner

Karen and I  went shopping for dinner at Shoprite and I came across this shelf. Nothing says Halloween like candy corn! We didn't buy any though because I am bed super-early and would rather not have the doorbell ring for Trick or Treaters so we plan to put a sign on the door, politely telling the little munchkins that there will be no candy given out.  Hope they all take it well.

Day 349 ~ My bro Joe!

On my birthday, a few weeks back, my wife Karen and my brother Joey went to the Museum of Natural History (a place where my brother got mugged when he was only 13 but that's another story.) We came across this statue in the Indonesian Section. Of course, we had to goof around! Oh, by the way, today is my brother, Joey's birthday so, Happy Birthday, big brother and many more! 

We did take a "serious" picture but I like the goofy one better.

This was the first goofy picture we took but he likes the other one better. So do I!

Day 348~ The Best Store-bought Pizza

My son insists that DiGiono pizza should be eaten more than pizza from our local pizzeria because the taste is just as good and much cheaper than going out for a slice. 

Daniel said, "try it; you'll see"

I did and while it is the best store bought pizza I've ever tasted, I still plan on going out for pizza. A slice from the pizzeria is still much better.

Day 347 ~ Another picture from Lowe's

When Karen and I went to Lowe's last week to check about some home improvements, I came across this advertisement in the store. It made me laugh to look at it and I sure am glad I don't have to clean him up!

Day 346 ~ Mushrooms on a Walk

While taking my dog, Margaret, for a much needed walk last week. On the way, I came across an enormous mushroom....thought I'd take a picture....

My Iphone is pretty new; I've only had it a couple of weeks so when I thought I was taking a picture, I was actually taking a video. Above is  the video I thought was a picture. Oh, well. I'll learn it better in the future.

Day 345 ~ The Airport Meditation Room

 I work at the airport and, in the terminal I used to work at, they had a meditation room. I used to go there from time to time.

It is a quiet place where I have witnessed Muslims, Christians and Jews all praying in the same space. I now work in an other terminal so I won't be able to visit there anymore.

Day 344 ~ Shopping at Lowe's

Mr. Potato Head

 My wife and I went to Lowe's yesterday to see about some home improvements and we both noticed how, even though it's still October, the Christmas decorations are already on sale. There were a bunch of "blow up" displays that are for a person's front lawn. I've always thought them a bit tacky but to each his own.
