My friend, Jack, loves coffee as much as I do. He has a HUGE coffee cup which I had to take a picture of.

Day 216 ~ Flags!

 In the next town over, on the side of a main road, someone painted an American Flag years ago. This inspired my wife to do the same thing for ourselves, which she did! You can see that the owner of this fence had to replace one of the sections, probably due to super-storm Sandy but they didn't paint it.

Day 215 ~ two cookies

Today, Daniel and I ate lunch at his College cafeteria. I bought three cookies for $1.35. I ate one and gave these two to Daniel. After all, I am fat enough.

Day 214 ~ Wheaten Vs. Wheaten

Yesterday, Karen and I took Libby and Margaret for a Memorial Day walk. Our neighbor across the street, has a soft-coated wheaten terrier just like we do. (We got our first ☺) His name is Jackson and Margaret finally got a chance to meet him after we finished our walk.  They seemed to like each other.

Day 213 ~ Tea party kid?

Sunday at church one of the kids was wearing a "Don't Tread on Me" shirt.  Since it's Memorial Day and remember those who gave their lives in battle, I figured this is a good pic to display, in honor of the first patriots who gave their lives to free themselves from British tyranny. (No offense to the Brits; we're friends now☺.)

Every year on Memorial Day weekend, the town next to ours, solicits funds for their Volunteer Ambulance corp with a "coin toss." I usually toss them something. Here is a picture of them "winding down.

Day 209 ~ Birthday Burger

When Tina from Poppy's Place heard it was Karen's birthday, they put a candle on her burger and sang Happy Birthday. Later, Tina said they didn't serve dessert anymore which is why it wasn't on a cake.

Day 208 ~ Do I look like a turtle?

On Karen's birthday, we went to Poppy's place with her parents and Justin and Daniel. Justin took a picture of us and Karen, after seeing it, said, "take another one; you look like a turtle in this picture." Well, you tell me if she is right.

Day 207 ~ a martyered president and his brother.

 I am at the college library, waiting on Daniel to get out of class. Before I did some of my own homework for the Medical coding course, I saw this bust of John Kennedy.

 At first I thought, leave it to a leftist college to only have democrats heroes on display☺ but then I saw the inscription. This was presented in 1967, only four years after JFK's assassination. That certainly seems appropriate.

I think this is his brother, Robert, the Attorney General but I didn't see an inscription.

Day 206 ~ A Visit to the Vet

 Poor Margaret has an ear infection so Karen had me call the Veterinarian;s office and get some medicine for her. I drove down to the office and as was waiting I noticed these treats for cats. On my way out, I saw the ones for dogs but didn't feel like taking the picture cuz people already look at me funny enough.

Day 204 ~ Dog Treats!

 Our dogs eat twice a day, 8am and 5pm but in the middle of the day, we give them a little treat from our treat jar. As you can see, we are running low and Margaret and Libby won't put up with that so it's off to Petsmart for us!

Nothing tastes as good as bread straight from a bakery. Yesterday, Karen and I went to visit her parents and they had this rye  bread on the kitchen counter. Of course, I helped myself to a piece and it was delicious!

Day 200 ~ Mother's Day Gifts!

I went to Walmart and Staples on Mother's day eve so I could set this up for Karen when she walked in after working all night. The center gift was from me and the two on the side were from our dogs. You have no idea how tough it is to get dogs to go to Walmart with you ☺

Now we can rock out on our computer.

We have really cheap speakers on our computer so I went to Staples and got these at a good price. Now our music won't sound tinny.

 I went to Walmart to buy the frame and the picture is actually a "painting" I had commissioned from DeviantART. The artist drew the painting form Karen's profile picture on Facebook.

I hope Karen had a great Mother's day, even though she had to work.

I saw this picture on the wall of Poppy's Place where we went on Mother's day. Karen and I had the very same picture in our kitchen in our first apartment. We used to love the little rascals and this was a great picture to have. I don't know whatever happened to our picture. I was glad to see it again at Poppy's Place.

Day 193 ~ Friends become Orthodox!

Last Saturday, three friends of mine were received into the Orthodox Church. It was a beautiful liturgy/ceremony to watch and witness. It is the custom in the Church to take on a patron Saint's Name so Jim, Tiffany and Ben can now also be known as Patrick, Anastasia  and Herman.  Ben is wearing a white robe because he also was baptized that day and after a person is immersed in the waters of baptism they are given a white robe to represent the cleansing of sins in Christ.

Day 192 ~ The Refrigerator is here!

Our old refrigerator was leaking so we finally got another one. Here is the Lowe's delivery truck with our new fridge being unloaded! Hooray!!

Day 191 ~ Partying with the Orthodox Christians!

For Eastern Orthodox Christian, Easter was today so last night I went to the Easter Vigil which began at 11:30pm and didn't end until 2:30am! (They call Easter, "Pascha," by the way) There was a lot of rejoicing and "Christ is Risens" being proclaimed and I absolutely  loved it.

Yesterday, we wen't to Poppy's place for my father-in -law's Birthday celebration. His wife, my dear mom-in-law, was feeling a bit under the weather so she stayed home.

Today for lunch, we took my father-in-law to lunch for his birthday. The name of the place is "Poppy's Place" and it has a 1950's feel to it. When I saw this traffic light, I just had to take a picture! You can see pics here for the last two times I went.
