Day 291 ~ Prayer and Praise

Sunday night, our church had a time of prayer and praise. Bill asked me to man the video screen so I could flash the lyrics to the choruses on the screen for the people to sing.  I got there early to make sure I was in position and I took this picture of Bill and Pastor Brad getting ready for the service.

In the background are some rocks which is part of the set up for VBS. It goes on all week.

Day 139 ~ Morning Prayer

For my time of morning prayers, I use a book called the St. Philip's Prayer Manual.  I usually wake up before everyone else in the family so I have my quiet time in the kitchen. I usually place the book on the stove and use the spoon holder to prop open the book. This  makes it easier to cross myself, kneel, ect.

I like using the prayer book, not because I can't think of anything to say to God but what I read in this book (full of ancient prayers) has words that say things so much better than I can.  So I make these words my own and my heart goes up to God!

Day 118 ~ The Prayer Room

The Prayer Room

Our church has a prayer room downstairs and it probably should be used more than it is! But I have always loved that our pastor thought it was important to set aside a place of prayer for the faithful . When I run my Jr NYI (that's the kid's youth group), we usually have the time of Bible reading/devotional thoughts in that room. First of all, because I have taught them that it is a place of prayer and not a place to play around so the place itself keeps them quiet.  And secondly, The atmosphere is conducive to spiritual reflection, at least as far a evangelical protestant churches go. There are no Icons or statues but the pews, the Bible and the Cross on the wall do make it a special place.

Now if people from my church can help me remember? Wasn't this prayer room set aside in memory of Victor McLukas, a prayer warrior, if you will and wasn't it put together with funds that he set aside? I just don't remember. If you do, please comment below.

Day 35 ~ Pics of our prayer garden...AND A VIDEO!

Our Prayer Garden

Our church has had a prayer garden for a while now. It was an Eagle Scout project Justin , one of the kids from the church, decided to do.  Well, recently, we paved that prayer garden with bricks and here is the work in progress!

 People in the church made a donation and could have the name of a loved one inscribed on the brick; either in honor of a living person or in memory of one who has passed!

we made this commercial that we played in church in order to let people know that they could buy their very own brick! Most of the kids had a great time making this video. As you see, I just took still shots, added a soundtrack and some music and, wala!, a video.....I love Windows Movie maker!

Since we are talking about church is a picture I didn't use but could have for my Day 9 blog post. Our Church without heat because of Hurricane Sandy.(http://mydailyphonepic.blogspot.com/2012/11/day-9-going-to-church-with-no-heat.html)  Everyone is bundled up in coats but we worshiped anyway!
