Day 236 ~ A Friendly Game of Chess!

Daniel and Thomas, thinking hard!
We went to Karen's Parents last night because some family came to town. Here is Daniel playing chess with Thomas. Both are brilliant strategists so you know it's going to be a close game. As it turns out, Daniel won, but, by all reports, just barely. They seemed to be evenly matched.

The game!
Later on they played a game called Bughouse chess which involves two chess sets, four people and some quick thinking. I'm not sure who won that game!

See you tomorrow!

Day 114~ Two Left over Pictures on my computer

Karen, Martha and Frank
Here is a picture taken from the day Karen and her folks went to see the nutcracker suite in New York back in December. It was a great time for them!

Martha, my mom-in-law
This was when we took a trip up north to visit her sister. That's when I took a picture of some art work. See it here.

See you tomorrow.

Day 95 ~ Art in the Family

remember 9-11

When we went to visit my wife's aunt on Saturday, I couldn't help but admire this original painting in their living room, done by their grandson, Paul. Such a talent.
Uncle Carlos

Their other grandson, Danny, did this portrait. Again, such talent!

See you tomorrow.

Day 75~ Family Card Game

phase 10 cards

I very rarely play games but my family forced me into last night. We sat around and played Phase 10. We didn't actually finish the game because I usually zone out by 9pm. Waking up everyday at 4am is a hard habit to break after 24 years so I don't stay up late.Instead of my family continuing the game without me, we are to continue the game sometime later today. By the way, I am losing but you probably already guessed that.

points = losing!
Yes, I am losing!

See you tomorrow.

Day 72~ A Picture of the Four Kids!

Justin, Sara, Daniel and Matthew
This is rare! What, with work schedules, college and busy lives, my wife was able to get all four of our kids to sit down for a picture. Karen took a picture with her camera which, of course, is of much better quality than my phone but the poses is about the same!

waiting for the next pic
Here they are, in between staged shots!

what are they looking at?
Ah, the side angle!

I am not sure the last time we had a shot of all the kids together but it is good to see again.

See you tomorrow!

Day 61~ Christmas at my house!

my tree

We had a fantastic day with family and friends. Karen' s cooking was outstanding. We hope your day was great too!

another group shot
After dessert, we played a game whose name I now forget in which you draw and/or guess what your neighbor has drawn. It's sort of like pictionary. Half of us cannot draw well and that is what makes the game hilarious! There was a lot of laughing going on!

See you tomorrow!

Day 52 ~ Stephanie the Meanie!

Stephanie Eating Corn at a Bar B Q
When my niece Stephanie was a little girl, I always told her I was going to write  a children's book about her called, "Stephanie the Meanie." It was a story about a mean girl who, because of a kindness shown to her, changes her ways. Although, I still have the story idea in my head, I never did write it down.  Maybe, someday. She is a person full of life and is a pleasure to be around!

Grandma and Stephahie waiting for the show to begin
My wife, Karen and her mother met Stephanie in the city to watch the Nutcracker Suite.  Sadly, because of traffic, they arrived late and missed the entire first half of the show. But they enjoyed the second half.

Karen sent all these pictures (except for the corn one)  to my phone so I could use them on this blog. Thanks, Karen!

I hope to see Stephanie again soon!

See you tomorrow.
