Day 321~ 9-11 Revenge?

Free Speech
Karen and I were out and about this evening and I came across this written on the back of someone's car.  I wonder who he wants us to nuke?  I sure hope he doesn't mean the Syrians! Anyway, on this day, 9-11, we remember our fallen fellow countrymen who died for no other reason than we were hated. God grant the victims rest, the families solace and may those who have such hatred in themselves have their own hearts turned.

See you tomorrow.

Day 305 ~ Changed the Church Sign

the church sign
Vacation Bible School ended two weeks ago and I only got around to changing the sign about now. That wouldn't be so bad except the sign said "VBS August 12-16" and I always hated it when churches would leave old announcements up. Well, here I am guilty of the same thing. Oh, well. At least I don't leave Christmas lights up all year long.

Since it was night when I changed it, I thought about Jesus being the light of the world which is why I chose that phrase to put up.

See you tomorrow.

Day 292 ~ OCC

Ocean County College
I was with Daniel yesterday because he had to go to his college to talk to the admissions people. We saw this sign...not as glamorous at the HOLLYWOOD sign but it is the same idea.

See you tomorrow.

Day 271 ~ A Funny Church Sign

A church sign
In stark contrast to the "You think it's hot now? Just wait" sign, here is a sign that will make you laugh. Or at least, I laughed.

See you tomorrow.

Day 266 ~ Offensive Church Sign.

don't think it's talking about GLOBAL WARMING...

Okay, I have nothing against clever, church signs although most of the "clever" ones are just too cutesy....well, this sign ain't that cute.....It says, "Think it's Hot now...just wait...." Now I am not a universalist  and I do believe God respects the free will of those who don't want to be with Him and let's them go to the place where He is not but I don't think it's a good idea to put a sign like this up for the general public to see. You might as well just put a sign that says, "Go to hell." After all, that is what the sign is saying.

See you tomorrow.

Day 176 ~ Church Sign

our church stands in prayer with those who are suffering
Pastor Del texted me yesterday and asked me to change the sign, showing the neighborhood that our prayers are with those in Boston and Texas.  I was glad to do it!

See you tomorrow

Day 105 ~ What I did Before the VA Appointment

Front of Orthodox Church; still has Christmas Wreaths
When I went to the VA clinic (see yesterday to see those pics), I arrived super early so I decided to visit the Orthodox Church that I attend on Saturday nights.  I thought I'd like to get a couple of good pics.  I really can't get any good pics of the Church when I go to Vespers because it's too dark but this day was all bright sunshine!
The sign
Here is the sign that lists the services and Website. As you can see, it was very bright outside!

A close up on the sign
A close up on the sign, depicting the Annunciation. (Luke  1:26-38) I never really noticed it before because I would only just drive by quickly on Saturday nights. Very nicely done!

See you tomorrow.

Day 84 ~ How I choose the church sign

Mostly from the NIV version

With Christmastide being over, I had to choose a new saying for the church sign. I decided to choose something from the Psalms so I figured I'd do it randomly. I went to one boy in the church  and said, "Pick a number from 1 to 150." He picked 150. After checking how many verses that Psalm had,  I went to a girl and said, "Pick a number from 1 -6." She picked 2.  So I ended up with what you see above.

Sort of like casting lots, don't you think? I am glad that Psalm 137:9 wasn't randomly chosen; that might have been a public relations nightmare!

See you tomorrow.

Day 10~ Something to Remember this Election Season

I have the responsibility at my church to change the sign in the front by the highway. My kids remind me that I don't change it often enough but that's another story.  Well, with Election Time upon us and all those annoying Campaign ads, I thought that this would be a good message to get out.  "Jesus Loves You" is a good thing to remember, especially if your candidate loses this Tuesday!

For my international readers, you should know that our laws insist that in every political commercial the candidate has to say in his or her own voice, their name and that they approve of the message. (example:
25 seconds of annoying plea for vote, then in the final 5 seconds, we hear, "I'm John Smith and I approve of this message").

I think it's a stupid law but that a discussion for another time....

Thanks, Stacy, for giving me the idea for this sign.
